德国馆封顶了，烈日下，众人纷纷以德国传统的摔碎酒杯的方式献上美好的祝福。伴随着悠扬乐曲，花冠被缓缓拉上德国馆顶部……目睹此情此景，我仿佛来到了2010年，漫步至德国馆，开始了独一无二的“和谐都市”之旅。

  谁是严思和燕燕

    展示在我们眼前的是一个由透明的银色发光建筑膜包裹的建筑体，它漂浮于几根支撑结构上，怎么看，都像是一座可漫步其间的三维空间体雕塑。起落有致的坡型景区从底层向上延伸至展馆三楼，四个主要建筑主体好像是悬浮其上的，形成一个天然屋顶，让人能悠然漫步于底层花园。

    奇怪的是，每一建筑体单看好像都有点失衡，但当它们构成一个整体时，却相辅相成。让人不禁产生联想，这是否暗含着设计者对“和谐都市”的构思？

    光与影、疏与密相互交融，形成一种美妙的结构，这已经为接下来的旅程定下了一个和谐的基调。于是，迫不及待地找到位于斜坡景区内的入口，游历开始了。

    入口周围竖立着来自德国各州的巨幅明信片，满是德国的名胜古迹。趁着闲暇间，你可以在明信片前留影。仔细研究一下上面落款，是一个叫严思的人写给燕燕的。在整个展馆“旅途”中，这两位虚拟的朋友将陪伴我们探寻展馆中的惊喜。

跟随候场的人群往坡上走，一个个“立方照片”出现在眼前，上面展示的是德国城市结构，独特而典型。这些“立方照片”还设置着互动立体装置，你好像使用望远镜一样，从中观望，探访原汁原味的德国。

搬来一座“海港新城”

    观众每二十人一组被请入展厅，穿过一个暗室，登上电动滚梯，之后穿行于一条隧道。顿时，“火车、汽车、公共汽车”交替出现，广播报站声，鸟儿啾啾鸣啭，水上荡舟的孩子们欢乐的笑声不绝于耳……当然，这只是一个用多媒体创意制作的美妙世界，指示着“你已进入德国城市”。

豁然开朗，隧道末端出现了一个湛蓝色的海底世界——伴着水声、泛着气泡，水光倒映四射。人们好似跃出水面一般，眼前忽然呈现出一幅动人的、指向未来的画卷：灿烂阳光下的汉堡海港，蓝天白云，海鸥翱翔，还有令人叹为观止的现代建筑群。

    此时传来两个人的声音，是严思和燕燕在对话。年轻的德国小伙子严思正从他的视角，向中国学生燕燕介绍德国。而我们每一位参观者也是听众，由严思带领着，开始了解德国。严思正娓娓道来，原来“海港新城”是在紧邻德国汉堡市中心，占地155公顷的大片区域内，由城区规划者们随心所欲设计出的一个新的中心城区。“它将居住、工作、文化等生活空间巧妙地融合在一起。”“它不是单调的，千篇一律的建筑物的复制，而是丰富多彩、独具特色的一个新城区。”的确，每一个来到德国馆“海港新城”的人都仿佛亲身到了德国汉堡，体验海港新城独特的韵味。

将一座海港搬到世博会国家馆内，这真是德国人的一项创举。

走在都市与自然的交叉小径上

    挥别了“海港新城”，在都市的天际线上舒展出一个崭新的大厅。地面和墙上布满巨幅设计图、建筑模型、设计草图和城区规划图。它们像是被微风轻拂，一切都处于动态。严思告诉燕燕和大家，这是“未来规划室”，关注创新和持久的城市发展。

    走出规划室，步入“人文花园”和“发明档案室”。每个人都亲身感悟到，在现代的繁忙都市中拥有一片绿地的惬意，并能观赏来自德国的高新设计作品。

    随后便是一个充满着创意的空间——“创新工厂”。这是一个光线暗淡、红光闪烁的大厅。在高至屋顶的大架上，陈列着众多来自德国的日常生活用品和与众不同的发明、设计作品。奇妙的是，“这间大厅中的一切都处于运动中”！传输带在人们的上空穿梭往来，满载着总共90多件展品，能看到LED灯、独特的带闹钟半导体、玩具拖拉机、自行车安全帽，以及有名的LikeaBike儿童学步车……工厂一角还有各种生产材料，你可以用手去触摸，挺有意思，让人能真正感而悟之。

从“创新工厂”走出来，你会进入一个绿色世界。风和日丽、花香鸟语，沉醉一下，发现德国的城市之旅和自然之游一直往复穿梭着，“和谐都市”的真谛似乎就在这里。

嘻哈文化正蔓延

    一行人穿梭于德国馆迷宫似的区域内，从隧道到广场，从庭院到海港，乐此不疲。接下来呢，每个人到达舞台中心。聚光灯照耀在身上，人人成了台上主角，而且能随心所欲地跑到后台，亲眼目睹幕后生机勃勃的景观。与此同时，大家也感受到文化在城市生活中的重要。

    这次运气不错，恰逢柏林嘻哈基地做客上海世博会，我们得以领略德国的青年文化。一直听闻嘻哈，何谓真正的嘻哈文化呢?原来它算得上是我们这个时代最为成功的青年文化了，其魅力跨越了语言障碍和国界阻隔。嘻哈文化蔓延全世界，也进入了德国馆。

我们看到了街舞表演，这种以方寸之地作为舞台的街舞表演，被视为城市“文本”的涂鸦艺术。随后，利用街边路灯电源进行表演的“Open Air Jame”让在场者大饱眼福。这里的演出还未结束，那边又热闹非凡，原来是节奏口技表演，真是精彩!那些表演者不需要任何节奏编辑器、乐器，用口音模仿打击乐器，只见他们用嘴唇和麦克风就能产生旋律和节奏了。

“动力之源"寻谜底

    年轻的魅力、飞扬的激情还未曾褪去，人们又开始“随波逐流”，到达“和谐都市”的中心——“活力广场”。流连陶醉其中的人还不知道，他们已卷入了一场蓄谋已久的欢乐“游戏”。

    “活力广场”是一处大厅，同时也是等候厅。这里呈坡型层层向上伸展着，透过一扇巨大的窗口及其半透明的墙外膜向外望，上海的蓝天和展馆前的小广场尽收眼底。

    在等候时，我们还可以看看墙上贴挂的德国市民生活照——从德国居家的客厅到住房的外观以及街景一应俱全，让人不由产生错觉，以为置身德国的街巷。而后，在展厅尽头闪烁着一种神秘的红光，耳边还能听到一种奇特的声响，仿佛是在召唤大家。好奇心立即被调动起来，大家决心去“动力之源”寻找谜底。

    “在能源中心生成一种能量，它与一座城市的生机息息相关。这里是和谐都市展馆的心脏，珍藏着德国馆的精彩亮点。”在这里，每个人都是中心人物。

    踏入这个令人瞩目的锥形大厅，引人入胜的彩色投影图像充盈着空间。从回廊上可观望到大厅中正悬挂着一颗金属球。仔细观察，金属球直径达三米，外表安装了上千根发光二极管，球面上还显现出五彩斑斓的图像。

    游戏开始了，大家被分为两大组。很快发现，我们能通过共同的运作以及高声呼喊，使金属球进入动态。金属球在大家的呼唤中开始来回摆动，并且幅度越来越大，呈圆周状转动，球面的色彩也越来越浓。紧接着，金属球散发出的能量放射到四周栏杆、墙壁、屋顶乃至整个大厅。

    这颗球是给予这个城市真正动力以及生命的核心，而要启动这颗球则需要在场所有观众的共同努力。

    伴随着它的运转，各种来自德国、以及“和谐都市”的不同影像，迅速在眼前闪现。其后，金属球又渐渐减速，直至停止摆动。接下来又会发生什么?

    人们开始笼罩在绿色光环下，融洽与自然的气氛蔓延于整个大厅。上方呈现“蓝天”，金属球上显现“地球”。地球上出现了一粒象征希望的种子，种子开花了，新的生命诞生了……人们兴奋异常，仿佛全身充满了由大家共同营造的能量。

A huge crowd of people gathered in spite of the torridity, for the topping off ceremony of German Pavilion. Wine glasses were smashed against the steel structure to express the best wishes, a flower crown slowly ascended to the top of the pavilion along with the melodious music... Time seemed to have jumped to 2010. We walked towards German Pavilion, and started a unique journey through the "Balancity", a city of harmony and balance.

Who Are Jens and Yanyan

Right in front of us is the pavilion architecture wrapped in silver building membrane. A terraced landscape stretches from the ground level up to the third floor of the pavilion. Four exhibition structures appear to hover, creating a perfect roof for visitors. Around the entrance, several huge postcards of German landscapes and landmarks from the various federal states are positioned. These postcards serving as photo-taking points, were written by Jens to Yanyan, the two fictitious protagonists who will accompany visitors on their journey of discovery through the pavilion.

Following the visitor flow upwards to a ramp, we see "cubic photos", the aerial shots of typical German urban structures. Along with interactive exhibit-posts, these "cubic photos" open up a multitude of impressions-as though you're looking through a telescope into the original and unique German cities.

A "Habor" Moved into the Pavilion

In groups of 20, visitors are let into the exhibition hall. Going through a darkroom, entering a moving walkway and passing a dynamic tunnel, they are drawn into a multimedia world of urban images and sounds: trains, cars, buses and loudspeaker announcements interspersed with bird singing and children's laughter from a rowboat.

The end of the tunnel opens up to a deep-blue underwater room with sounds of water, air bubbles, and shimmering reflections. In a moment, visitors feel like emerging through the water surface and entering a fantastic futuristic environment: The Hamburg harbor reposes in the sunlight, while puffy white clouds are floating in the blue sky and seagulls are flying over the sea. The modern architecture composes a magnificent skyline.

The archetype of the "Harbor", know as the "HafenCity" is adjacent to the center of Hamburg, covering au area of 155 hectares. A new urban center has been created inside this area through the skillful design of the urban planning group.

"It combines the various spaces for housing, office, and cultural activities." In this pavilion, every visitor will be able to experience the modern "Harbor" as they would in the real Hamburg.

Moving a harbor city into the national pavilion is truly a great creation made by Germans.

Walking on the Alley Where City and Nature Dovetail

Leaving the "Harbor", a large lobby unfolds upon the urban skyline, with huge presentations of architectural designs, models, sketches and drawings of urban planning. This is the "Planning Office", focusing on the concepts of innovative and sustainable urban development.

Walking out of the "Planning Office" and stepping into the "Garden" and the "Depot", visitors will get a first-hand experience of how nice it is to have a piece of green land in the city. Also presented here are the hi-tech innovative design produces from Germany.

Visitors then enter a room full of innovative ideas—the "Factory". Displayed on the shelves reaching up to the ceiling are goods for daily life, unique inventions, and design works all from Germany. "This room is always in motion." The conveyor belts move above the visitors, keeping the exhibited items in constant movement. In a comer of the factory, various production materials are also presented. You could touch and feel them as you like.

Walking out of the "Factory", you will enter a "Park" where the wind blows mildly, and the sky is bright with sunshine. The scent of flowers and the singing of birds seem to invite you to take a break and enjoy yourself here. It is true that the journey through the "Balancity" is a discovery in both city and nature.

Hip-hop Culture is Spreading 

So far, visitors have been walking inside the labyrinth-like pavilion, from the tunnel to the plaza, and from the courtyard to the harbor. Now they arrive at the "Opera", standing in the spotlight. A dynamic backstage is open for them to explore. Here visitors will feel for themselves the significance of culture to urban life.

Berlin Hip-hop Base may come to Expo 2010. We'll be able to experience the youth culture of Germany. The hip-hop culture is so vigorous that it has gone beyond the national and language barriers, spreading around the world and coming into the German Pavilion.

We've seen the street dance, a performance carried out in streets, and a type of "graffiti art" based on the urban culture. After that, we were entertained by the "Open Air Jame" show empowered by the electrical source of street lights. Another great show is the vocal percussion, relying on nothing but their mouths and microphones in creating wonderful rhythms.

Discovering the "Energy Source"

The "City Centre", served as a waiting room, where the visitors wait to be admitted to the show in the "Energy Source". "It is the heart of 'Balancity' and the ultimate highlight of German Pavilions." Stepping into the "Energy Source", a impressive cone-shaped room, visitors on the galleries can look out onto the room's focal point: a huge metal sphere, three meters in diameter and fitted with thousands of LEDs, which will display images from Germany.

Purely by shouting together, visitors can set the sphere, the source of energy, in motions. Such a message is thus conveyed that it is possible to get things moving, quite literally, if people act together.

With the running of the sphere, a variety of images from Germany demonstrating the theme of "Balancity" flash onto the sphere. Then, gradually, the sphere slows down and finally becomes still.

The room gleams in a green light and a natural harmonious atmosphere spreads in the hall. A "blue sky" opens up above the hall, and an image of the "Earth" appears on the sphere. A seed that represents hope comes out on the "Earth". It grows and blossoms, and gives birth to a new life...Visitors are extremely excited, and seem  to have been filled with the energy created through their concerted efforts.
